ABOUT CELIAC DISEASE

Celiac disease is an allergic reaction to eating gluten, a protein found in wheat, barley and rye. If you have celiac disease, sometimes called sprue or coeliac, eating gluten triggers an immune response in your small intestine. Over time, this allergic reaction damages the small intestine's lining and prevents absorption of some nutrients. The intestinal damage often causes stomach pain, diarrhea and weight loss, and can lead to serious complications.A gluten-free diet is essential to managing celiac disease. Once you stop eating gluten, you are likely to stop having stomach pain and diarrhea. It's important to be diagnosed by a doctor before starting a gluten-free diet. Eliminating gluten can change the test results so they appear to be normal.Gluten is found in a wide range of foods. You may also be given vitamin and mineral supplements to correct nutritional deficiencies.

BLOG DEDICATION

This blog is in dedication to my grandmother who had absolutley no other symptoms of Celiac Disease other than the anemia and was just recently diagnosed with it.. She has a very hard time finding Items in the local grocery stores that are GLUTEN FREE to eat so she has to make special trips to certain places to shop for food at really expensive prices.. So Im on a mission to start a blog for all the people out there that have Celiac Disease and problems finding food at reasonable prices within grocery stores and believe that every company should have some gluten free products with good taste and cheaper prices... So Everyone that leads me to my closing statement This blog is for you to come and talk about the disease to the others as a support net as well as share options and companys you have found that you buy food from..
